Slide Presentations

Flyde creates presentations in two ways: classic slides, one after another, or a zoom map, where the camera flies, rotates and zooms from one point to another. All with animations, transitions and audio tracks — and it exports to HTML, PowerPoint, video (MP4 or WebM), images and PDF.

1Getting started

When it opens, Flyde asks how you want to start:

  • Classic presentation — slides one after another, with 16 transitions and entrance, emphasis and exit animations.
  • Zoom map — a huge space with everything inside; the camera flies, rotates and zooms from one point to another.
  • Open a presentation made earlier in Flyde: the exported .html file or the .json project.

Give the presentation a name in the field at the top. The badge next to it shows the mode (Slides or Map).

2Inserting content

The Insert panel (on the left) has text, images and shapes: rectangle, rounded, circle, triangle, diamond, pentagon, hexagon, star, arrow, chevron, heart, plus, speech bubble, ring, line and thin arrow. Templates has ready-made slides (cover, title and text, image…), with their texts in the language chosen in the Workspace.

  • Double-click a text (or press Enter) to edit it.
  • Drag to move; the handles change the size; the arrow keys move (faster with Shift).
  • In the right panel (Format), change the font (including the theme fonts), colors, alignment and layers.

Slide strip (at the bottom): click a thumbnail to go to it and drag to change the order. The ⧉ button duplicates the slide — the copy is independent: what you change in it does not change the original, and vice versa (in the zoomable map, the frame's objects are copied to a free area of the map). The + Slide button, at the end of the strip, inserts a new slide right after the current one: in the classic presentation you pick a template; in the zoomable map it creates an empty frame in a free area, ready for texts, images and shapes.

3Animations and transitions

  • Entrance: appear, rise, drop, from the left, from the right, grow, pop, spin, flip, blur, reveal, bounce and stretch.
  • Emphasis: pulse, shake, sway, spin 360°, blink, beat and pendulum.
  • Exit: disappear, shrink, exit to the right, fall, and spin and vanish.
  • When it starts: on click, with the previous one or after the previous one. Texts can come in all at once or word by word.
  • On the Slide tab, choose the transition between slides (cut, smooth, zoom, split open…). Preview animations shows the result.

4Audio tracks

On the Slide tab (or Frame, on the zoom map), on the right, there are two optional tracks:

  • Audio track for this slide — plays when the slide appears and stops when it leaves. Each slide (or frame) can have its own.
  • Track for the whole presentation — plays from beginning to end, under each slide's tracks (background music, for example).
  • Click Choose audio… (MP3, M4A, OGG, WAV…). Then you can Listen, Replace, Remove and adjust the Volume.
  • Automatic fit: if the audio is longer than the slide, it is cut when the slide ends; if it is longer than the whole presentation, it is cut at the end. The cut has a gentle fade. Shorter audio plays in full.
  • With auto-advance, the panel shows how long the slide (and the presentation) will last and warns when the audio will be cut.
The audio goes along when you export the presentation (.html), the project (.json) or the video. While you work, it is kept in the browser.

5Zoom map background

On the zoom map, the Frame tab has the Map background section: choose a color, as before, or an image — just like the slide background in the classic presentation.

  • Fixed on screen: the image stays still behind while the camera flies, rotates and zooms.
  • Follows the map: the image covers the whole map and moves and zooms along with it.
  • Image opacity: make the image lighter or darker; the chosen color shows underneath.
  • Color only removes the image.

6Presenting

  • ▶ Present (F5) starts from the beginning; ▶ From here (Shift + F5) starts from the current slide.
  • During the presentation: arrows, space or click advance; B black screen; L laser pointer; N notes; G overview; Esc exits.
  • The audio tracks play by themselves. If the browser blocks sound (this happens when opening an .html file that starts presenting right away), just click or press a key.

7Exporting

The Export button (formerly “Save”) gathers all outputs — the ones Flyde already had and the ones that came from the former FotoFlow:

OptionWhat it creates
Presentation (.html)Runs in any browser, with animations and audio. It can be reopened and edited in Flyde.
PowerPoint (.pptx)For PowerPoint, Google Slides or LibreOffice (without animations and transitions).
Video (MP4 or WebM)A movie with transitions, animations and the audio tracks (see section 8).
PNG / JPG of the current slideThe image of the slide (or frame) on screen, in Full HD.
PNG / JPG of each slideOne image per slide, in a .zip file.
PDFOne page per slide (or per map frame).
Project (.json)To reopen and continue later, with the Open button.

8Video

  • In Export › Video, choose the format (MP4 with H.264 or WebM with VP9), the quality (HD 720p or Full HD 1080p), the frames per second and the time each slide stays still.
  • Slides with auto-advance use their own time; the others use the chosen time. Each animation “click” becomes a short pause.
  • On the zoom map, the camera flies from frame to frame, as in the presentation, with the map's background image.
  • The two audio tracks are mixed and automatically fitted to the time of each slide and of the whole video.
  • The video is generated right here in the browser, faster than real time, with a progress bar and a Cancel button.
Requires an updated Chrome or Edge. MP4 appears when the browser has the H.264 encoder (Chrome and Edge on Windows and Mac do). Text uses Google fonts; offline, the video and images use a similar system font.

10Help menu

The Help button at the top has: User manual (this manual), Keyboard shortcuts, Terms of use, Privacy, Credits and licenses and 🌐 Language. The manual and the legal pages open in a window inside the program itself (you can switch between them with the buttons at the top of the window; Esc closes it).

11Inside the Nebulosa Workspace

  • Open Flyde from the side menu, from its card on the home page or from the search (Alt + K).
  • The Appearance button at the top of the Workspace switches Flyde's look between its original look and Nebulosa Default (purple, navy blue, orange and yellow). The choice applies only to this program and is remembered.
  • The Language button (🌐) at the top of the Workspace — or Help › 🌐 Language inside the program — switches the menus and texts between Português do Brasil (the default), English and Español. The choice applies to all programs and is remembered. What you wrote in your files is not translated.
  • If you close Flyde's tab with changes not yet saved to a file, the Workspace asks before closing.
  • The shortcuts Alt + 1…9 and Alt + 0 (home) work even with the focus inside the program.
  • Flyde also opens on its own, outside the Workspace, at its folder's address (for example …/apps/flyde/) or from the single HTML file.
