1Getting started
- Open Typee. A blank document is ready for you to write.
- Give the document a name in the field at the top (where it says “Untitled document”).
- Write as usual. The text is saved automatically in this browser while you work.
- When you are done, use Save and choose the format: Word (.docx), plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md) or Print or save as PDF.
2New document and templates
The New button offers ready-made templates:
- Blank
- Letter — sender, recipient and signature
- Résumé
- Report — with an automatic table of contents
- Meeting minutes
- To-do list
The template text comes in the language chosen in the Workspace.
New tab opens another document alongside (inside the Workspace, in a new Workspace window).
3Opening files
Open accepts Word documents (.docx), PDF (.pdf), Markdown (.md, .markdown) and text (.txt). You can also drag the file into the window.
Opening a PDF and converting it to Word
- Click Open and choose the PDF.
- Typee reads the text of every page and builds an editable document: it recognizes headings (by font size), paragraphs and bulleted or numbered lists, joins words hyphenated at the end of a line and removes repeated headers, footers and page numbers.
- Check it and adjust whatever you like.
- Use Save › Word (.docx). Done: the PDF has become a Word document.
4Writing and formatting (Write tab)
- Paragraph styles: Text, Large heading, Medium heading, Small heading, Quote and Code.
- Fonts: Book, Modern, Heading, Typewriter, the fonts on your computer or the name of any installed font.
- Size: Small, Normal, Large, Huge and Giant.
- Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, superscript (x²), subscript (x₂), text color and highlighter.
- Uppercase and lowercase: UPPERCASE, lowercase and Title Case.
- Numbered lists, bulleted lists and task lists (☑), indentation and alignment.
- Paragraph indent (first line only, hanging, centered) and line spacing (single, 1.15, 1.5, double).
- Tx clears the formatting of the selected text.
5Insert
The Insert tab has: image, table, link, page break, table of contents (generated from the headings), divider, callout (💡), quote, code block, symbols (Ω) and today's date.
6Page: paper, margins, header and footer
- Paper: A4, Letter or Legal; portrait or landscape.
- Margins: normal, narrow or wide.
- Header and footer: text and position (left, center, right) of each.
- Page number: none, left, center or right, in the format “Page 1 of 5” or “1”.
- Pages or continuous: view the document as separate sheets or as one continuous text.
7Review
- Find (Ctrl+F) and Replace (Ctrl+H), with an option to match case.
- Spelling: turns on the browser's spell check, in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
- Listen: Typee reads the text aloud.
- In the side panel, Outline shows the document's headings; the bottom bar shows words, characters, pages and reading time.
8Markdown mode and Focus mode
The Visual / Markdown switch toggles between formatted editing and plain Markdown text (useful for writing for the web). Focus hides the bars so you can write without distractions.
9Saving and converting (Word, PDF, text)
- Word (.docx) — opens in Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice. Shortcut: Ctrl+S.
- Print or save as PDF — uses the browser's print dialog: choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. You decide whether to show the page number and the browser's stamp.
- Plain text (.txt) and Markdown (.md).
This way Typee converts any Word, Markdown or text document to PDF — and, the other way round, opens a PDF and saves it as Word (see “Opening files”).

11Inside the Nebulosa Workspace
- Help menu: the Help menu at the top has: User manual, Keyboard shortcuts, Terms of use, Privacy, Credits and licenses, 🌐 Language and About Typee. The manual and the legal pages open in a window inside the program itself (you can switch between them with the buttons at the top of the window; Esc closes it).
- Open Typee from the side menu, from its card on the home page or from the search (Alt + K).
- The Appearance button at the top of the Workspace switches Typee's look between its original look and Nebulosa Default (purple, navy blue, orange and yellow). The choice applies only to this program and is remembered.
- The Language button (🌐) at the top of the Workspace — or Help › 🌐 Language inside the program — switches the menus and texts between Português do Brasil (the default), English and Español. The choice applies to all programs and is remembered. What you wrote in your files is not translated.
- If you close Typee's tab with changes not yet saved to a file, the Workspace asks before closing.
- The shortcuts Alt + 1…9 and Alt + 0 (home) work even with the focus inside the program.
- Typee also opens on its own, outside the Workspace, at its folder's address (for example
…/apps/typee/) or from the single HTML file.
