Imaginariumby Nebulosa Workspace

Multipurpose Image Editor

Imaginarium is a complete graphics editor that runs entirely in the browser: layers, masks, styles, smart objects, brushes, text, vectors, selections, adjustments and filters. It follows the way of working of Photopea and Photoshop — the same tools, menus and shortcuts — and opens and saves PSD files.

1How the screen is organized

AreaWhat it is for
Menu barFile, Edit, Image, Layer, Select, Filter, View, Window and Help.
Options barChanges with the tool: brush size, wand tolerance, text font, crop ratio…
Tools (left)20 groups with 66 tools. Click and hold (or right-click) to see the others in the group. At the bottom, the foreground and background colors and the quick mask.
Work areaThe image, with rulers, grid and guides. Each document gets a tab.
Panels (right)Layers, Channels, Paths, History, Properties, Adjustments, Colors, Swatches and others (Window menu).
Status barZoom, image size, cursor position and history.

2Getting started

  1. On the start screen, choose New project, Open or drag a file into the window.
  2. Choose a tool from the left bar or by its keyboard letter and adjust it in the options bar.
  3. Work in layers: each element on its own layer makes it easy to change your mind later.
  4. Save as PSD (or as an .edt project) to continue later; use File › Export as for PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, SVG, PDF and others.
Made a mistake? Ctrl+Z undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes. The History panel keeps 120 steps; click one to go back.

3Moving around the image

  • Zoom: Alt + mouse wheel, Ctrl++/−; Ctrl+0 fits the window, Ctrl+1 shows 100%.
  • Pan: mouse wheel (with Ctrl or Shift, horizontally), Space + drag or the Hand (H).
  • Rotate view (Shift H), Navigator, rulers (Ctrl+R), grid and guides, with smart snapping.

4Open, save and export

Open: PSD and PSB (layers, groups, masks, editable text, shapes, styles, adjustment layers, artboards, alpha channels and guides), PNG, JPG, WEBP, AVIF, GIF (frames become layers), BMP, TIFF, TGA, ICO, SVG and the .edt project.

  • Save (Ctrl+S) writes in the format of the open file; Save as PSD (Ctrl+Shift+S) keeps everything editable in Photoshop, Photopea and Imaginarium; Save as project (.edt) keeps absolutely everything.
  • Export as: PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF (including animated), SVG, PDF, BMP, TIFF, TGA, ICO and PSD, with preview, scale and quality. It also exports layers, artboards and slices in batch and LUTs (.cube).

5Layers

  • Types: image, text, shape, adjustment, fill, group and smart object.
  • Opacity, fill, blend modes, locks, layer and vector masks, clipping masks.
  • Layer styles: shadow, glow, bevel, stroke, overlays and more.
  • Smart objects and smart filters: edit without losing the original.
  • Default names (Background, Layer 1, Untitled…) are created in the chosen language; names you type stay as they are.

6Selections, painting and retouching

  • Rectangular and elliptical marquee, lasso, polygonal and magnetic lasso, magic wand, quick and object selection; Select menu with expand, contract, feather, inverse, color range and quick mask.
  • Brush, pencil, eraser, paint bucket, gradient, clone stamp, healing brush, patch, red eye, blur, sharpen, smudge, dodge and burn.
  • Shapes, pen and paths; text with font, size, spacing and text on a path.

7Transform, adjustments and filters

  • Free transform (Ctrl+T): scale, rotate, skew, distort, perspective, warp; content-aware scale; Liquify and Vanishing Point.
  • Adjustments: brightness/contrast, levels, curves, exposure, vibrance, hue/saturation, color balance, black and white, photo filter, gradient map, posterize and others — as a direct adjustment or as an adjustment layer.
  • Filters: blurs, sharpen, noise, distort, stylize, render and more.

8Appearances and shortcuts

Imaginarium has three appearances: Imaginarium (default, graphite with blue), Nebulosa and Photopea. Switch with the Workspace's Appearance button or inside the program.

The shortcuts are the same as in Photoshop and Photopea: V move, M marquee, L lasso, W wand, C crop, B brush, E eraser, T type, P pen, U shapes… The full list is in Edit › Keyboard Shortcuts, inside the program (with search).

In English and Spanish, Help › Imaginarium Manual (F1) opens this manual; the long built-in manual of the program is in Portuguese.

9Inside the Nebulosa Workspace

  • Help menu: the Help menu has: User manual, Imaginarium Manual (F1), Keyboard shortcuts, Terms of use, Privacy, Credits and licenses, 🌐 Language and About Imaginarium. The manual and the legal pages open in a window inside the program itself (you can switch between them with the buttons at the top of the window; Esc closes it).
  • Open Imaginarium from the side menu, from its card on the home page or from the search (Alt + K).
  • The Appearance button at the top of the Workspace switches Imaginarium's look between its original look and Nebulosa Default (purple, navy blue, orange and yellow). The choice applies only to this program and is remembered.
  • The Language button (🌐) at the top of the Workspace — or Help › 🌐 Language inside the program — switches the menus, tools and panels between Português do Brasil (the default), English and Español, with the usual terms of image editors in each language. The choice applies to all programs and is remembered. What you wrote in your files is not translated.
  • If you close Imaginarium's tab with changes not yet saved to a file, the Workspace asks before closing.
  • The shortcuts Alt + 1…9 and Alt + 0 (home) work even with the focus inside the program.
  • Imaginarium also opens on its own, outside the Workspace, at its folder's address (for example …/apps/imaginarium/) or from the single HTML file.
