1Getting started
- Click Open file (or drag files into the window) and choose a book, document or audiobook.
- The file goes into the Library and opens on screen. Next time, just click its cover.
- Press the ▶ button on the bottom bar to listen; press it again to pause.
- Close whenever you like: LêPraMim keeps the exact spot and asks whether you want to continue where you left off.
Formats: PDF, EPUB, DOCX, TXT, RTF and HTML (text) · MP3, M4A, M4B, AAC, OGG, WAV and FLAC (audio).
2Reading a book aloud
- Click any sentence to start reading from there.
- Use the arrows on the bar to go to the previous or next passage or page, or type the page number.
- Choose what the voice reads: only the current page, the page and the following ones, the current chapter or the whole book.
- Adjust the speed on the bar. Voice, volume, pitch and word highlighting are in Settings.
- In the left panel: detected Chapters, Bookmarks, History and Search results.
- In PDFs, the Original page button shows the page as it is in the file.
- Automatic cleanup: headers, footers, page numbers, tables of contents and ads are not read (each item can be turned on or off in Settings).
3Voices
- System voices: the voices installed on the computer (on Windows: Settings › Time & language › Speech). Choose a voice in the language of the book: the interface language does not change the reading voice. Edge's “online” voices send the text to the provider and so stay off until you allow them in Settings.
- Piper neural voices (Cadu, Faber, Jeff and Edresson), high-quality Brazilian Portuguese voices. On the website, on the first reading LêPraMim asks for permission and downloads the chosen voice (about 60 MB, plus some 25 MB for the engine, only once). The voice is kept in the browser; afterwards it works offline. The first sentence takes a few seconds to start.
- If you decline or cancel the download, LêPraMim uses the system voice.
- Download Voices (button at the top, after Statistics): return whenever you like to the “Download the voice…?” option. It shows the four neural voices, which ones are already kept in this browser and how much space each takes; Download asks and downloads the voice, and Use this voice starts reading with it.
- Change Voice (next to it): opens Settings, as always, right at the Reading voice part, to choose another voice, the speed, the volume and the pitch. The Settings button stays in the same place.
4Listening to an audiobook
- Open an MP3, M4A, M4B, AAC, OGG, WAV or FLAC file.
- Play, pause, stop, back and forward 10 seconds; speed from 0.5× to 3×.
- If the file has chapters, they appear in the left panel.
5Extra features
- Bookmarks: the Bookmark button (M key) saves the current spot; in the Bookmarks tab you go back to it or delete it.
- Sleep timer: the Sleep button pauses reading after the chosen time.
- Hybrid mode: in the Library, the book's ⋯ menu › link the matching audiobook. In the reader, the Hybrid mode button plays the audio and follows the text (approximate sync; use Fix sync).
- Create audiobook: turns the book into audio files. With the Piper voice, the files are created directly; with system voices, the browser asks to share the screen with system audio and recording takes as long as the reading.
- Statistics: reading time and progress of the books.
- In the Workspace, LêPraMim notifies you in the notification corner when an audiobook is ready and when the Piper voice finishes downloading.
6Optional features: OCR, MP3 and DOCX
Three optional components extend LêPraMim. They download by themselves the first time they are needed, just like the Piper voice: LêPraMim asks for permission, shows the progress and keeps the component in this browser. From then on it works right away, even offline.
| Component | When it is downloaded | Size | Without it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tesseract.js (OCR) | When you open a scanned PDF (pages that are photos) and choose Recognize text. | about 18 MB, plus the language data | PDFs that are only images have no text to read. |
| lamejs (MP3) | When you create an audiobook choosing MP3. | about 0.2 MB | The audiobook comes out as WAV, which works the same but takes much more space. |
| Mammoth.js (DOCX) | When you open the first Word document (.docx). | about 0.7 MB | DOCX files open with the built-in reader, which already handles most cases. |
- Only the program files are downloaded; the content of your books never leaves the computer.
- Settings shows the status of each component (installed, kept in this browser or downloads when used) and the Forget downloaded components button, which frees the space.
- If you answered “Not now”, LêPraMim asks again next time (for DOCX, the “Use the built-in reader” choice is remembered until you forget the components).
- Whoever maintains the site can also run
apps/lepramim/Baixar-Bibliotecas.batand upload theapps/lepramim/libs/folder: then nothing needs to be downloaded on the spot.

8Privacy
No document, audio or usage data is sent to the internet. The library, progress, bookmarks and statistics are kept in the browser. If you clear the site's browsing data, the library is deleted along with it (the original files are not affected).
9Inside the Nebulosa Workspace
- Help menu: the Help button at the top has: User manual, How to use (quick guide), Keyboard shortcuts, Terms of use, Privacy, Credits and licenses, 🌐 Language and About LêPraMim. The manual and the legal pages open in a window inside the program itself (you can switch between them with the buttons at the top of the window; Esc closes it).
- Open LêPraMim from the side menu, from its card on the home page or from the search (Alt + K).
- The Appearance button at the top of the Workspace switches LêPraMim's look between its original look and Nebulosa Default (purple, navy blue, orange and yellow). The choice applies only to this program and is remembered.
- The Language button (🌐) at the top of the Workspace — or Help › 🌐 Language inside the program — switches the menus and texts between Português do Brasil (the default), English and Español. The choice applies to all programs and is remembered. The books themselves are not translated.
- If you close LêPraMim's tab with changes not yet saved to a file, the Workspace asks before closing.
- The shortcuts Alt + 1…9 and Alt + 0 (home) work even with the focus inside the program.
- LêPraMim also opens on its own, outside the Workspace, at its folder's address (for example
…/apps/lepramim/) or from the single HTML file.
